The global burden of disease is shifting from infectious to non-communicable diseases.
Heart complications, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and cancer – commonly referred to as lifestyles diseases – are on the rise.
While these were mainly common in Western countries, they are now becoming a burden in poor countries such as Kenya.
Awareness campaigns are necessary if the war against these so called lifestyle diseases is to be won.
Kenyans need to be encouraged to live healthy and active lifestyles.
