Cost of Formatting in Scientific Research Introduction You are being invited to complete a survey to better understand the cost of formatting in scientific research. You are being invited to take part in this study because you have published, or have helped to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals. The survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete and asks questions about time spent formatting manuscripts for publication in scientific journals in the past year. Taking part in this study is voluntary and your consent will be assumed upon completion of the survey. You are free to withdraw from the study at any time and there will be no penalty to you. We expect to invite 300 people to participate. All information gathered from the survey will be kept confidential. No personal identifiers are being retained for this study. All survey data will be kept on a password-protected computer at the CHEO Research Institute. Following completion of the research study, the data will be kept for 7 years after the last publication related to this study, and then be destroyed. You may or may not directly benefit from the study. However, your input and perspective would be valuable to us. There is a risk that you may feel uncomfortable with some of the questions being asked; if you do feel uncomfortable, you may choose not to answer a question. Upon study completion, we will share a summary report of the results with you upon request. This study has been approved by the CHEO Research Ethics Board (REB). If you have any additional questions, please contact Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput (email: firstname.lastname@example.org; phone: +1 613-737-7600 extension 3683). Your assistance with this survey is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
