The two Junior Research Chairs with the HALO Research Group gave an overview of their research program to the attendees at the Lawson Foundation Diabetes Workshop in Toronto on October 26th.
Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput shared some findings on his four research themes: (1) the short sleep-obesity connection; (2) the effects of intellectual work on appetite control; (3) the side effects of weight loss; and (4) the influence of dairy/calcium intake on energy balance.
Dr. Rachel Colley shared findings on three core areas of her research including: objective measurement of physical activity in the Canadian Health Measures Survey, advocacy work with the Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, and the interplay between fundamental motor skills, physical activity, fitness and obesity in overweight and obese children.
