The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario has provided a Spark advocacy grant to Dr. Pat Longmuir to engage doctors and nurses in the identification of children who face barriers to a healthy, active lifestyle. Children who are “physically literate” have the knowledge, motivation, skill, fitness and behaviour to enjoy a physically active lifestyle. The goal of this project is to develop an advocacy plan of action for preventing heart disease and stroke through physical literacy screening within the routine health care provided to Ontario children.
