Beginning in the fall of 2014 and continuing into the winter of 2015, the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) has provided HALO with over 100 participants for two important physical literacy projects. Five schools from RCCDSB: Holy Name and Cathedral in Pembroke, St. John 23 in Arnprior, St. Francis and Our Lady of Sorrows in Petewawa, assisted with participant recruitment and space requirements for the two projects. For the project “Health through Physical Literacy for Ontario Children: Recreation Providers, Health Units and Schools Working Together”, students completed the Canadian Assessment for Physical Literacy (CAPL) on two occasions, once with their teachers and then a second time with the HALO research team. A number of students also participated in the project “Putting Physical Literacy within REACH (Recreation, Education, Allied-Health, Coaching, Healthcare)”, where they completed potential physical literacy screening tasks.

The HALO research team would like to take this opportunity to thank the students and staff from RCCDSB who participated in this research for their participation and contribution. Your help will help make physical literacy assessment tools more assessable to leaders within Canada and beyond. Thank you so much for your support, we could not have completed this research without you!
