Congratulations to Dr. Mark Tremblay, Dr. Nicholas Kuzik, Dr. Markus Duncan and Dr. Diego Augusto Santos Silva on their new publication “Olympic Games and 24-Hour Movement Behaviors: a match worth making” published in the Journal of Sport and Health! A summary and the citation are provided below.
Summary:
Success at the highest level of sport requires diligent attentiveness to optimal combinations of sleep, sedentary behaviors, and physical activities/exercise; inherently athletes know this and practice it. Using mega-events like the Olympic Games to promote 24-Hour Movement Guidelines could serve to remind athletes that the whole day matters for optimal movement behaviors, that population health can be improved through awareness of and adherence to 24-Hour Movement Guidelines, and that nudging population levels of movement behaviors in a positive direction may unearth previously undetected talent.
