Dr. Rachel Colley, Richard Larouche, and Joel Barnes attended the Healthy Children | Healthy Spaces 2010 Conference on November 14-16, which was held at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa.

There were 100 participants from diverse sectors: youth, public health professionals (non-profit and government), outdoor educators, early childhood professionals, playground designers and landscape architects, parents, Parks Canada, parks and recreation professionals, conservation professionals – among others.

Active outdoor play was the overarching theme throughout the conference. The breakout sessions were focused on four main topics: design and natural playscapes, child-friendly planning and risk, Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card as a tool to engage government, and youth engagement.
