Dr. Pat Longmuir, a Junior Research Scientist with HALO, made two presentations recently at the American Heart Association 2011 Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Florida.

Yesterday, Dr. Longmuir gave a short presentation by invitation at the International Scientific Luncheon featuring Canadian research. The 5 top-rated abstracts submitted by Canadian scientists were featured. The scientists, including Dr. Longmuir, were asked to describe their area of research and how they became engaged in their field of research.

Dr. Longmuir made another presentation this morning titled, “Physical activity, fitness, motor skill and activity attitudes among children with simple and complex heart defects”. Authors were P.E. Longmuir, G. Faulkner, J.L. Russell, B.W. McCrindle. The research was funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. The presentation was an oral session at the American Heart Association 2011 Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Florida. Over 4,700 abstracts were submitted to the conference, with just under 1,000 accepted for presentation but only about 120 accepted for oral presentation.
