Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput has been awarded the 2011 SIRC (Sport Information Resource Centre) Research Award for his paper, “Video game playing promotes overconsumption food in adolescents.” Dr. Chaput had the winning research paper in the social impact of sport on the community category. As this year’s winner, Dr. Chaput will receive a prize package which includes a formal announcement posted on the SIRC website, a plaque, $2,000 cheque, media exposure throughout the Canadian academic and sporting community and a one year individual SIRC membership which includes access to the SIRC collection, document delivery, and sport librarians.
