On Saturday, March 14, Dr. Kristi Adamo (Research Scientist) and Kendra Brett (PhD Candidate) presented their research at the 7th International DIP Symposium on Diabetes, Hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome and Pregnancy in Florence, Italy.  Kristi’s poster presentation, examining the physical activity levels in pregnant women, was based on data from her Maternal Obesity Management (MOM) trial as well as the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS). Kendra’s poster presentation was based on pilot work from her thesis examining the placental expression of the insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4 (IGFBP-4) in pregnancies complicated by obesity. Aside from attending the conference, Kristi and Kendra enjoyed walking the streets of Florence, visiting the Uffizi gallery, and climbing all 436 steps to the top of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) to enjoy a spectacular view of the city!
