Congratulations to Rachel Colley (PI) and Meghann Lloyd (CI) on their recent grant success through the CHEO Research Institute grant competition! The grant title is: “Understanding the factors that enable or inhibit physical activity engagement in obese and non-obese children.” This study will measure four key domains that influence physical activity (fitness, motor skills, self-efficacy and preferences) in a group of obese and healthy weight children (n= 60) to better understand how we can promote activity in a population that has to-date proven difficult to engage. We intend to use this information to inform the design of future physical activity interventions aimed at obese children and to move away from the ‘one size fits all’ approach that is currently failing these children.
