On January 1st, 2011 HALO joined CBC to launch a national campaign that set out to inspire Canadians to live healthier lives – and it worked! Tens of thousands of Canadians came together through Live Right Now with the shared goal of making healthier choices.
Add to that one of Live Right Now’s most ambitious goals – The Million Pound Challenge – and you have real success. Canadians were challenged to lose one-million pounds in six months – that goal was shattered by losing more than 1,600,000 pounds! Congratulations!
Well Canada, it’s time for a NEW goal!
On Friday, January 13, 2012 CBC’s Live Right Now begins the search for the LIVE RIGHT NOW CAPITAL OF CANADA!
CBC, together with Radio Canada, is looking for the Canadian community that most embodies the spirit of Live Right Now: a community where residents are motivated and supported to make healthier choices.
To compete for the crown, residents need to rally behind their communities and track all the ways they make healthy choices using a specially designed Facebook app that will be unveiled January 13th, 2012.
Did they bike to work? Organize a community walk? Post a picture from a healthy potluck? Every healthy activity a person does will earn their town or city points, based on a simple point system.
Shows across the network like Steven and Chris on CBC and Kampai on Radio Canada, will encourage, follow and join Canadians as we work together to improve the health of this country.
How can your community become the Live Right Now Capital of Canada?
It all starts on January 13, 2012 and wraps with the winner being featured on Steven and Chris and C’est ca la vie on April 13, 2012! Go to LiveRightNow.ca for full details and to see how easy the app is to use!
Meantime, think about ways you’d like to engage your community to Live Right Now:
- What resources can you use to get the word out?
- What events do you have coming up that would encourage your community to Live Right Now?
- What healthy living ambassadors can you engage in your community to help you with your efforts to become the Live Right Now Capital of Canada?
Stay tuned for exciting new details by following the initiative on Twitter (@cbcLRN), visiting the Live Right Now Facebook Page or going to LiveRightNow.ca.
The search begins January 13th, so get ready to Live Right Now Canada!
