1. What is the research study about? – We are doing a research study that will increase our understanding of how different body types and sleep habits affect physical activity and dietary intake.
  2. Who can participate? – If you are between the ages of 12 and 17 years of age and have done a sleep study at CHEO, you could be eligible!
  3. What is the required minimum commitment? – The first visit will be done in the morning and lasts approximately 3-4 hours. You will be asked to wear an activity monitor for 10 days after this initial appointment. You will be asked to keep track of what you eat on 3 separate days. A dietician will call you during the 10 days to ask you couple of questions about your food intake. You will also be asked to collect your urine a few times during the 10 days. A drop off time will be arranged on (or just after) the 10th day to return the activity monitor, food diary and urine samples at CHEO.
  4. Who can they contact for more information? – Lynda Hoey at 613 – 737-7600 ext 4109
  5. What is the deadline? – June 2012
  6. What happens at the end of the study? – Participants will have the option to meet with any of the investigators on the study when the study is finished to discuss their results (exercise specialist and/or respirologist and/or endocrinologist). The time commitment can be used as volunteer hours for school and we will present those that complete the study with a movie gift certificate
